Valor: P2

Real warmth for a smaller room—quiet, steady, and still working when the power goes out.

Quick Facts

• Heating Capacity: 500–1,000 sq ft
• Efficiency: 68% (EnerGuide)
• Fuel: Natural gas or propane.
• Controls: Valor 10 remote with thermostat, timer, and child lock, included.
• Fan: Optional

Who It’s For

A smaller living room or den is the hardest room to get right: the furnace overshoots it, and most gas fireplaces are built for bigger spaces, with a blower that ends up being the loudest thing in the room. You need a fire sized for the room you actually live in, one that warms you without a fan running. If that sounds like your house—and you want heat you can count on when the power’s out—the Valor P2 is the one. Choose an oversized, fan-driven unit instead and you’ll spend the winter turning it down and listening to it work.

What Makes It Special

The P2 heats by radiation and natural convection—no fan required. Its taller window puts more fire in view, and the heat comes off it the way the sun warms your face: it warms you and the furniture, not just the air near the ceiling. A quiet circulating fan is available if you want warm air pushed further, but the fireplace never depends on one.

It also runs on four AA batteries as its primary power—not as a backup. When an outage takes out the furnace, the P2 keeps making heat, and the included remote keeps controlling it: set a temperature and the fireplace holds the room there on its own.

An optional HeatShift system ducts warm air back into the room through hidden channels, keeping the wall above the fireplace cooler so a mantel can sit lower than usual—no electricity needed for that either.

Possible Downsides

• The fan is an optional kit, not included. The P2 heats without one, but add it if you want warm air carried across a bigger room.
• App and smartphone control require a separately sold WiFi module. The included remote handles thermostat, timer, and child-lock functions on its own.

If you want a fire that warms a smaller room quietly and keeps working through an outage, the P2 is the right decision. The room you used to walk past becomes the one everyone ends up in.

The P2 takes four fire beds—birch, driftwood, traditional logs, or coals—three liners from plain black and charcoal brick to reflective glass, and fronts ranging from the minimalist Clean Install Kit and Clearview to the Ledgeview in black or aged steel and the traditional Richmond cast front, so it fits the room you already have.
