Who It’s For

Put a fireplace on one side of a shared wall and one room gets the fire while the other gets drywall. You need one fire both rooms can see. If the wall between your living room and dining room—or kitchen, or den—is exactly where the fire belongs, the L1 See-Through puts it inside that wall, open to each side. Choose a single-sided unit instead and one of those rooms will always be the one people drift out of.

What Makes It Special

The same fire shows on both faces of the wall, so both rooms get the fire and both rooms get the heat. Valor builds it to radiate warmth into the things in the room—the floor, the furniture, you—the way the sun warms your face, and it moves the rest of its heat by natural convection, so there’s no blower droning in either room.

Here’s the part that matters in an ice storm: it runs on four AA batteries as its primary power, not as a backup. When the lights go out, the fire still lights and the heat keeps coming.

Want a TV or artwork above either face? The optional HeatShift system carries warm air through hidden ducts and back into the room—no electricity required—so the wall above stays cooler than the fire would suggest.

Possible Downsides

• The plain black liner isn’t offered on the see-through—liner choices are fluted black or reflective glass.
• The 1″ clean install front requires the HeatShift system, so plan on a plenum kit if you want the flush, trimless look.
• It builds into a wall open on both sides, so the project ends with finish work on each face—this is a renovation, not a drop-in swap.

If you want one fire that two rooms share instead of a fireplace one room keeps to itself, the L1 See-Through is the right decision. The wall that used to divide the house becomes the place everyone gathers—on both sides.

The L1 See-Through takes five fuel beds—birch, driftwood, splitwood, Murano glass, and rock and shale—a fluted black or reflective glass liner, and three front styles from a flush clean-install look to a 3½” trim, so each side can match the room it faces.
