Town & Country: TC36 Arched Gas Fireplace

A true arched opening, like the hearths in fine older homes.

Quick Facts

• Heating Capacity: Designed for ambiance, not as a heat source.
• Efficiency: 26.8% (EnerGuide)
• Viewing Area: 34 1/2″ wide
• Fuel: Natural gas; propane with a conversion kit.
• Controls: Remote and wall switch included; Apple-device app and smart-home control supported.

Who It’s For

A square fireplace can look out of place in a room built around arches, crown molding, and period detail. You need a fireplace whose shape belongs to the house. If you’re restoring or building a traditional home and want the opening itself to carry the style, the TC36 Arch gives you a barrel-arched face modeled on the Rumford-style hearths of period homes. Choose a rectangular unit and the finish work goes into disguising it; choose this one and the arch is already there.

What Makes It Special

The arch is part of the fireplace, not a trim piece added afterward. Town & Country builds a true barrel arch into the face with no heavy external trim or louvers to work around, so your stone, tile, or plaster can follow the curve right to the glass.

Inside, you get the same choices as the TC36: six burners from stacked logs to tumbled glass, nine panels in handcrafted brick or porcelain, a remote and wall switch, and a nearly invisible screen that keeps small hands off the hot glass.

Possible Downsides

• It’s certified as a decorative fireplace, not a heater; if warming the room is the goal, look at a heater-rated fireplace instead.
• The Country Home log set is natural-gas only; propane homes choose from the other five burners.
• The tumbled-glass burner pairs only with the porcelain panels, not the brick.

If you want a fireplace that looks like it was built with a period home, the TC36 Arch is the right decision. The room looks finished the way the architect meant it to.

Choose the Birchwood, Chalet II, Country Home, Black Diamond, Tranquility, or Heartwood burner, then finish the firebox in Park Avenue, Manhattan, Aspen, Mount Vernon, or Madison brick, or black, coffee bean brown, titanium, or copper porcelain; andirons are available for the log sets.
