Who It’s For

An open masonry fireplace sends most of its heat up the chimney. You need an insert that turns it into a real heater. The Flair 25 is for the home with an existing masonry fireplace that wants a wood insert rated for up to 750 sq ft.

What Makes It Special

It is lined with soapstone, which absorbs 15% more heat than firebrick and radiates it five times more, with a patented air control that slows the fire for longer, even burns.

Dual heat-activated blowers with variable speed spread the warmth, a perforated baffle keeps the view of the fire clear, and a sweeping cap lets the chimney be cleaned without removing parts. It is a clean-burning certified insert.

Possible Downsides

• It is a wood fire. You haul and store wood, clean ash, and sweep the chimney.
• Check the opening first. Your installer confirms the fireplace fits the insert.

If you want an old fireplace to heat the room, the Flair 25 is the right decision. The fireplace becomes the room’s heater.
