Who It’s For

A furnace that runs all winter, or a room that never warms up, is a reason to heat with wood. You need a stove that heats a real amount of house. The Superior WXS2016 is for the home that wants a freestanding wood stove. Superior rates it at 700 to 1,400 square feet.

What Makes It Special

The 2.1 cubic foot firebox takes logs up to 18 inches, and Superior rates the burn time at 7 to 9 hours: load it at night and there’s still a fire in the morning.

It is certified to the federal clean-burning standard. A blower and outside air kit are optional.

Possible Downsides

• It is a wood fire. You haul and store wood, clean ash, and sweep the chimney.
• The blower is optional. Add it to push warm air farther.

If you want to heat with wood, the Superior WXS2016 is the right decision. The stove becomes the warmest spot in the house.

Add the blower and outside air kit.
