Who It’s For

An outdoor room isn’t finished without a fire, and a fire pit doesn’t give you a hearth to gather around. You need a wood fireplace built for the weather. The Superior WRE6050 is for the patio or outdoor kitchen that wants a 50-inch wood-burning fireplace.

What Makes It Special

A tall opening lined with Mosaic Masonry kiln-fired firebrick with mortared joints, in four colors and stacked or herringbone patterns.

It is built with 304 stainless steel on the face and every surface exposed to weather. It has a massive smoke dome with no visible smoke shelf, a heavy steel grate with forged andirons, mesh screens, and optional glass doors. Superior backs it with a 20-year limited warranty.

Possible Downsides

• It is a wood fire. You haul and store wood, clean ash, and sweep the chimney.
• Glass doors are sold separately. Superior offers bi-fold glass doors as an option.

If you want a real wood fire outside, the Superior WRE6050 is the right decision. The patio becomes the place the evening ends.
