RH Peterson: G8E Series Valley Oak Vent-Free Logs - 16"

Gas logs that keep their warmth in the room instead of sending it up the chimney.

Quick Facts

• Heating Capacity: Supplemental heat for the room it is in.
• Fuel: Natural gas or propane; the burner’s gas type is set at the factory.
• Controls: Manual, on/off remote, or variable flame remote, by burner version; Bluetooth on/off option.
• Logs: Valley Oak, for the G8E vent-free burner.

Who It’s For

An open fireplace looks warm, but most of the heat goes straight up the flue, so the room stays cool while the fire burns. You need a fire that keeps its warmth in the room. The Real Fyre Valley Oak vent-free 16-inch set is for a fireplace where vent-free logs are allowed, when you want gas logs that add heat as well as look like wood. Choose a vented set if the look is all you are after.

What Makes It Special

The G8E is Real Fyre’s vent-free system for smaller fireplaces, simple in design and function, with a decorative front panel and knob cover included with the burner.

Real Fyre vent-free systems are dual listed: certified as unvented room heaters and as vented decorative logs. Every burner has an oxygen depletion sensor on the pilot that shuts the gas off if the room runs short of fresh air.

Possible Downsides

• It is supplemental heat, not your main heat. The manual rates it for supplemental heating only.
• The burner is sold separately. These logs pair with the G8E burner kit.
• Bedroom use takes the lower-input burner. Only the G8E bedroom version is made for bedrooms, and only where code allows.

If you want gas logs that warm the room as well as look the part, the Real Fyre Valley Oak vent-free 16-inch set is the right decision. The fireplace becomes the warmest spot in the house, not just the prettiest.

Pair the logs with the G8E burner in natural gas or propane, and add Real Fyre pine cones, acorns, wood chips, or lava coals to finish the hearth.
