Who It’s For

Somebody always ends up in the smoke seat, and the seat moves every time the wind does. You need a fire pit designed to reduce the smoke, not just hold the fire. If you want a real wood fire people can pull their chairs up to, and one light enough to carry from the patio to the campsite, that’s the 22" Timberwolf. A standard fire ring gives you the same flames along with the chair-shuffling; this one is built so the night is about the fire, not the smoke.

What Makes It Special

The dual-layer burn zone pulls air in through vents around the base, moves it through the bottom and up the sides, and feeds it back to the fire through two rows of holes near the rim. That second feed of air is the difference: a hotter fire with less smoke, from the first match through burn-down.

Living with it is simple. Everything comes in the box—base ring, cover, spark screen, poker, and carry handle—and when the fire’s done, the drop-in ash tray lifts out, so cleanup is one trip to the bin instead of a shovel job.

Fuel it with wood for the classic fire or pellets for an easy one, and add charcoal when you want to cook over it with the optional 22" cast iron cooking grid.

Possible Downsides

• Stainless steel is the only finish at this size—the phantom black finish is offered on the 18" medium only.
• The cooking grid is sold separately; cooking takes charcoal plus the 22" cast iron grid accessory.

If you want the fire without the smoke seat, the Timberwolf is the right decision. The fire becomes the reason everyone stays out an hour longer than they meant to.

The Timberwolf pairs with a 44" round table surround, a 20" side table, fitted covers for both, and a 22" cast iron cooking grid, so the fire pit can anchor the whole outdoor setup.
