What Makes It Special

A dual burner with a realistic flame pattern and a flame sensor that constantly monitors the pilot, behind a safety screen barrier, in the 42-inch size.

The standing-pilot or electronic-ignition valve keeps working during a power failure, with hi/low heat and flame adjustment; the electronic version runs from a wall-mount battery holder when the power is out.

This is the mid-efficiency version, rated for ambiance and taking the chill out of the room; the higher-efficiency version gives more warmth.

Possible Downsides

• The fan kit is optional. Without it, the fireplace heats by radiance.
• The remote is optional on the standing-pilot version. The Proflame II electronic version includes one.
