Hearthstone: Deva 8220
A full-service range powered by wood, for living off grid.
Quick Facts
• Maximum Log Size: 17″
• Fuel: Wood.
Who It’s For
Off the grid, the stove has to cook as well as heat. You want a real range that runs on wood. The HearthStone Deva Cook Stove is made for that. Choose a heater alone and dinner still needs another fuel.
What Makes It Special
The Deva is a wood cook stove with a stainless steel oven large enough for a 20-pound turkey, with racks, and a ceramic glass cooktop that is easy to clean, scratch resistant, and big enough for several pots and pans.
A simple control regulates the hot air circulating around the oven, so baking temperatures stay consistent. The ash pan is included.
Possible Downsides
• It is a wood fire. You load it, tend it, and carry out the ash.
• It is a cook stove first. HearthStone publishes no heating area for it.
If you want to cook and bake with wood, the HearthStone Deva Cook Stove is the right decision. Supper comes out of the oven and the kitchen stays warm.
