Hearthstone: Craftsbury

A compact, efficient cast iron stove for a smaller home.

Quick Facts

• Heating Capacity: Up to 1,400 sq ft (HearthStone’s stated figure).
• Efficiency: 79% (higher heating value)
• Maximum Log Size: 16″
• HeatLife: 16 hours (how long you can still restart a fire from the coals with kindling).
• Fuel: Wood.

Who It’s For

You want a compact wood heater that makes the most of your woodpile in a smaller home. The HearthStone Craftsbury is made for that. Pick a stove sized wrong and you either chase a cold room or cook yourself out of it.

What Makes It Special

The Craftsbury is built from cast iron parts from HearthStone’s Spanish foundry and finished in porcelain enamel, and HearthStone designed it for smaller homes.

It is lined with soapstone blocks for long-lasting heat.

HearthStone’s TruHybrid system adds a third, catalytic stage to primary and secondary combustion, for a burn clean enough that a roaring fire shows no visible smoke from the chimney and that surpasses the 2020 federal clean-air standards. You can still burn high and hot or low and slow.

Possible Downsides

• It is a wood fire. You load it, tend it, and carry out the ash.
• Logs are shorter. Up to 16 inches.

If you want steady, long-lasting wood heat, the HearthStone Craftsbury is the right decision. On the coldest night, the house is warm and the fire is the reason.

Choose matte black or basil or brown enamel, and add the blower with rear heat shield and the outside air adapter.
