• Fan: Included.

Who It’s For

An open fireplace sends most of its heat up the chimney. You want it to heat the room instead. The HearthStone Clydesdale is for the fireplace you already have. Leave it open and it keeps costing you heat every winter.

What Makes It Special

The Clydesdale uses TruHybrid: engage the catalyst and turn it down for slow, efficient overnight burns. Its large open window lets you see as much fire as possible.

The soapstone-lined firebox retains heat and radiates steady warmth, and a convection blower is included.

HearthStone’s TruHybrid system adds a third, catalytic stage to primary and secondary combustion, for a burn clean enough that a roaring fire shows no visible smoke from the chimney and that surpasses the 2020 federal clean-air standards. You can still burn high and hot or low and slow.

Possible Downsides

• It is a wood fire. You load it, tend it, and carry out the ash.

If you want real wood heat from the fireplace you already have, the HearthStone Clydesdale is the right decision. On the coldest night, the house is warm and the fire is the reason.

Choose matte black or brown enamel, and add the surround extension, surround base caps, and mantel shield.
