The Hargrove Kodiak Split Triple Stack 36-inch set is for the homeowner with a large, deep wood-burning fireplace who wants a fire that fills it, without splitting and hauling the wood a fire that size takes.

What Makes It Special

The Kodiak Split has large logs that combine with a massive split front log. It is one of Hargrove’s Large Sets, built for larger fireplaces, in refractory material rated for 2000°F with crisp detail.

This is the third tier: added to a Double Stack set and burner, the Triple Stack burner puts a third burner at the back and gives you room to stack another tier of logs, so the fire grows taller and deeper.

Hargrove backs the logs with a limited lifetime warranty in the fireplace they were first installed in, the burner and grate for five years, and valves and remotes for two.

Possible Downsides

• It is for ambiance, not heat. The damper stays open while it burns, so most of the warmth goes up the chimney.
• It needs a deep firebox. Triple Stack sets need more depth than standard sets; the Kodiak manual lists the minimum fireplace size.
• It is not a set on its own. This tier goes behind a matching Double Stack set and burner.
