Who It’s For

Heating with wood should not mean fighting the stove. You want steady heat, a clear view of the fire, and simple controls. The Empire Gateway 2300 is made for that. Pick a stove sized wrong and you either chase a cold room or cook yourself out of it.

What Makes It Special

Empire builds the Gateway 2300 for larger homes or rooms. The standard no-mess ash pan has a cover, so ash goes out without dust.

Empire calls its stoves the simplest to use: a one-lever air control takes the fire from a roaring blaze to a slow burn, and the air wash system uses hot air to keep the glass clear.

It is built from thick steel, with high-density firebricks lining the firebox, a high-heat ceramic baffle that won’t deteriorate, high-temperature ceramic glass, and a heavy-duty door latch that seals tight for an efficient burn. The manual approves it for mobile home installation.

Empire backs it with a limited lifetime warranty on the combustion chamber welds, cast iron door frame, ceramic glass, and plating, with shorter terms on other parts.

Possible Downsides

• It is a wood fire. You load it, tend it, and carry out the ash.
• The blower is optional. Add it to move more heat into the room.

If you want a wood stove that is simple to run, the Empire Gateway 2300 is the right decision. On the coldest night, the house is warm and the fire is the reason.

Choose black or nickel door trim and a black or nickel straight, black or nickel Queen Anne, or black pedestal base, and add the step top, fire screen, blower, and fresh air kit.
