Who It’s For

You want a fire out on the covered deck—or in a room where a chimney was never an option—and most fireplaces stop at the back door. You need a fireplace certified to live outside as well as in. If you’re after a wide, modern flame you can run in any season, with the heat on or off, the Ignite Evolve 60 is that fireplace. Choose a standard electric unit instead and the fire stays indoors, where the label says it has to.

What Makes It Special

Most electric fireplaces are indoor appliances. This one is certified for outdoor use—install it in the family room, or in a sheltered spot on the deck under an overhang, and the same fire runs in either place. Outdoor placement has shelter requirements, and our team confirms the right spot at the in-home preview.

The flame is the other half of the story. You can set the speed, the color, and the ember bed glow independently, or pick one of seven presets, and a light sensor adjusts the firebox brightness to the room on its own. Because the heat switches off separately, you can run the fire in July—warmth on a January night, flame alone on a summer one.

It also recesses fully into the wall for edge-to-edge glass, with or without trim, so the finished look is a fire in the wall, not a box on it.

Possible Downsides

• The ember bed and log set are required and sold separately—you choose them when you order.
• The outdoor warranty is 1 year, compared with 5 years indoors, and outdoor installs need a protective overhang.
• The heat is supplemental—it warms the room it’s in, not the whole floor.

If you want the same wide fire on the January couch and the July patio, the Ignite Evolve 60 is the right decision. The deck stops being a three-season room, and the fire becomes the place everyone ends up.

Finish it to match the space: storm box surrounds in white or black, panel surrounds in oak or walnut, a trim kit for drywall and tile walls, ember beds from tumbled glass and river rocks to acrylic crystals, and log sets in beach driftwood, driftwood, or thin split logs, plus a full-width moulded faux wood set.
