Astria: Magni-Flame Southern Comfort Concrete Logset (30")
Vent-free gas logs that warm the room and look like a wood fire.
Quick Facts
• Efficiency: 99% (as rated by Astria).
• Fuel: Natural gas or propane, by model.
Who It’s For
A wood fireplace that sits dark most of the winter is wasted, and vented gas logs send most of their heat up the chimney. You need logs that heat the room. The Astria Magni-Flame Southern Comfort 30-inch set is for the home with a fireplace or firebox approved for vent-free logs. Astria rates its vent-free logs as heaters.
What Makes It Special
A cantilevered triple burner makes tall flames that aren’t dwarfed by the industry’s tallest logs, with two burners of yellow flame and a lower one for a glowing ember bed.
The pilot-lit model is remote-ready; the variable model includes a ProFlame remote and the electronic model an EcoFlow touchscreen remote. It is also listed for vented fireplaces with a damper clamp. The logs carry the wood grain texture and color of real logs.
Possible Downsides
• Vent-free is not allowed everywhere. Check local codes before you plan the room.
If you want a log fire that heats the room, the Astria Magni-Flame Southern Comfort 30-inch set is the right decision. The fireplace you used to ignore becomes the warmest seat in the house.
Choose natural gas or propane and the control model.
