Who It’s For

A room without a fireplace feels unfinished, and a wood fire means hauling wood and cleaning ash. You need a gas fireplace that frames into the wall and looks the part. The Astria Aries 45 is for the new build or remodel that wants a 45-inch traditional direct-vent fireplace. Astria lists it as a gas fireplace heater, so it is built to warm the room as well as look good.

What Makes It Special

Detailed ceramic fiber oak logs on a grate sit in a heat-circulating firebox, finished with the included Vista façade (Designer façades are optional).

Choose a model with a small pilot flame that stays lit, or electronic ignition with seamless battery backup. Interior liners, a blower, a remote, and wall controls are optional. Astria backs it with a limited lifetime warranty.

Possible Downsides

• The blower and remote are optional. Add them for more air movement and couch-side control.

If you want a traditional gas fireplace built into the wall, the Astria Aries 45 is the right decision. The fireplace becomes the place the evening starts.

Choose the façade and interior, and add the blower or remote where they are optional.
