Who It’s For

A long wall wants a long fire, but most linear fireplaces this size put out more heat than the room can use, so the showpiece ends up running with the flame turned down or off. You need a fire that fills the wall without overheating the room. If you’re finishing a great room, a bedroom, or an open living space where the fire is the focal point and the furnace still carries the heavy lifting, the Ascent Linear Premium 76 is the one. Pick a hotter linear instead and you’ll spend evenings choosing between the look of the fire and a comfortable couch.

What Makes It Special

Most linear fires go dark the second you turn them off. This one has lights built into the top of the firebox that shine down on the logs or glass, so the fireplace reads as a finished feature even between fires. The remote and the app control the lights, flame height, blower speed, and thermostat, so the whole thing runs from the couch.

The 76 is also the one size in this line that takes Napoleon’s ducted heat management system, which moves the fire’s heat where you want it instead of straight out the front—including configurations with true zero clearance to combustible materials, and even an option to install the fireplace as a room divider. You get the look of a fire in the wall and a say in where its warmth goes.

The blower comes standard, and the battery backup means the fireplace still lights when the power goes out—as long as you’ve kept batteries in it.

Possible Downsides

• Lower heat output by design—Napoleon builds this line for heating smaller spaces; if you want the most heat from a linear this size, look at the Vector or Luxuria.
• Heat management is an add-on—the ducted system is optional equipment, not included with the fireplace.
• Backup batteries are not included—outage operation takes four AA batteries you’ll need to keep fresh.

If you want a fire nearly six feet wide that flatters the room instead of overheating it, the Ascent Linear Premium 76 is the right decision. The wall you built it into becomes the room everyone ends up in.

Media choices include driftwood, birch, split oak, or beach fire logs and glass beads or embers in blue, amber, black, topaz, clear, or red, with shore fire, mineral rock, and woodland kits, Ledgestone brick or reflective black porcelain panels, and a black finishing trim to complete the look.
